Progress – Owens House Build Wanaka

 In Project News

As our home continues to take shape we appreciate even more the vision of our architect and the subtle design and layout decisions that work beautifully in the space.

The window size and placement is something we are particularly happy with. It is one thing to stand on your section and imagine the view out your windows, but quite another to stand in your home and have the true experience.

For our window joinery, we opted for thermally broken triple glazed aluminium joinery from Vistalite, to maximise thermal efficiency and comfort inside the home. The thermal break creates an insulating barrier to reduce loss of energy via the frame to improve insulation and reduce condensation.

With the roof cladding and aluminium joinery now installed we have moved our attention to the exterior cladding. The cedar cladding is underway and even at this stage with just the factory/machine coat (the first coat of oil) we are pleased with our decision to use Dryden WoodOil in Lignum as the cedar stain.

In our next post we will cover insulation in more detail, explaining our product choices and the benefits of these.
